$5.6 Million Grant Received for Airport Terminal Expansion

Congressman Jim Oberstar has announced that the Bemidji Regional Airport Authority has been awarded a $5.6 million federal grant from the Department of Transportation to expand the airport terminal building to accomodate more jet airline passenger traffic in the coming years.  The grant is a major part of the financing of the $7.8 million terminal construction project that will get underway in the Spring of 2010.  Plans include the addition of a jet bridge that will allow passengers to walk from the terminal into the aircraft without going outside.

Bemidji Regional Airport is the 4^th busiest passenger terminal in Minnesota with some 30,000 people annually flying in and out of Bemidji.  Mesaba-Northwest Airlink offers three daily flights to MSP International in Minneapolis to help connect you to the rest of the world.  On May 1st of this year, Mesaba began providing jet service on the first and last flight each day.  These new CRJ jets seat 50 passengers and offer half hour flights to the Twin Cities.  The other daily flights are on Saab turboprop aircraft that seat 34 passengers and offer a forty minute flight time to Minneapolis-St Paul.

The Bemidji Regional Airport also contains 200 acres of land that is designated for the development under Minnesota's JOBZ Program. This provides space for tax free development for nine years for qualifying businesses locating in the JOBZ area.

Car Rental operations at the Bemidji Regional Airport 

Hertz, National, Economy and Enterprise offer rental services at the airport. Some of these companies offer personal pick up and drop off service at the airport.

Fixed Base Operations at the airport are provided by Bemidji Aviation Services.They offer passenger charter and cargo services to any destination throughout the US and Canada in a wide variety of aircraft. Other services they provide would include aviation fuel, aircraft mechanical work, tie-downs / hanger space and certified flight instruction. Their services are provided 24 hours a day.
