Business Assistance
Bemidji is a community that has a history of encouraging the development of new business enterprises. The town began as a rough and tumble logging community in the late 1890’s and now has one of the most diversified business economies in Minnesota. The wood industry is still represented in the area with multi-national wood products companies…Potlatch Corporation and Norbord Minnesota. Those companies are now joined by Nortech Systems, Inc., Anderson Fabrics, North Country Business Products, Bemidji Woolen Mills, North Central Door Company, Wells Technology and Northwoods DNA just to name a few. Both the Bemidji City Council and the Beltrami Board of Commissioners are pro-business and have staff members ready to help business find a home in the Bemidji area.
The Bemidji Industrial Park was developed in 1962 to provide a home for manufacturing and warehousing businesses that serve the regional economy. Currently there are over eighty businesses in the park. It has now undergone four expansions and comprises over 250 acres of land on the south side of the City next to the US Highway 2 & 71 bypass. Of that total amount of land, 68 acres are within the boundary of the JOBZ Tax Exempt Development Zone. Contact Marc Wiechmann at 333-8665
The community is poised for growth in the technology field and has established the Bemidji Technology Park to house those types of businesses. Currently, Paul Bunyan Telephone, Beltrami Electric, Pinnacle Publishing, Dakota Supply, Northwest Minnesota Foundation and Chiropractic Sport and Spinal Rehab are located in the Tech Park. Within the Park there are 59 acres that are within the JOBZ Tax Exempt Development Zone.
The Bemidji Regional Airport also has land available for commercial and industrial development with over 200 acres located within a JOBZ Tax Exempt Development Zone. |
